Add text or image watermarks with opacity, rotation and position. Batch supported.
Add a text or image watermark with control over opacity, rotation, size and position. Batch processing applies the same mark consistently across a whole set of images.
Watermarks serve two quite different purposes and the right design depends on which one you want.
The second use is genuinely valuable for identity documents and is worth doing routinely. Our document preparation guide covers where it fits.
| Setting | For attribution | For document copies |
|---|---|---|
| Opacity | 15–30% — visible but not distracting | 25–40% — must be clearly readable |
| Position | Corner, or tiled across | Diagonal across the centre |
| Rotation | Usually 0°, or 45° if tiled | 45° across the document |
| Size | Small relative to the image | Large enough to be hard to crop out |
| Colour | White or black, whichever contrasts | High contrast against the paper |
It is a visible mark on pixels, not a protection mechanism. A determined person can clone it out, and automated tools have become good at removing them. Treat a watermark as a deterrent and an attribution aid, not as security. Anything genuinely confidential should not be published at all.
Yes. Add the whole batch, configure the watermark once, and every image gets the same treatment. Results download as a ZIP.
Yes. Upload it as an image watermark. A PNG with a transparent background works best — a JPG logo brings its white rectangle along with it.
15–30% for attribution, where you want the mark present but not dominating. 25–40% for document copies, where it needs to be unambiguously readable.
The watermark is composited onto the image and the result re-encoded, so there is one round of lossy re-compression if you export as JPG. Export at quality 90 or above, or use PNG, if that matters.
Yes, by someone motivated — manual retouching or automated tools can do it. A watermark deters casual reuse and marks provenance; it is not protection.
It is a reasonable precaution when submitting a copy for one specific purpose. State the recipient and date. Also check whether a masked version is accepted — that reduces exposure considerably more than a watermark does.
